Rab’s new Xiom jacket shows how years of outdoor clothing design experience result in a product that’s just ‘right’. It’s not the lightest jacket we tested but it’s by no means heavy and will also pack away easily. It also manages to incorporate all the essential features you need in a lightweight waterproof jacket – three huge, zipped and map-compatible pockets, modestly-sized armpit zips and one of the best adjustable helmet compatible hoods we tested.
The Pertex Shield fabric offers high levels of wind- and water-proofing and excellent breathability, and the Xion looks great too. What’s not to like?
