HJ Hall certainly aren't new to the sock making game - having manufactured socks in Leicestershire since 1882, but this is their first foray into the world of technical performance socks and our first experience of testing their products.
The quality of craftsmanship and experience shows in the ProTreks. The high density cushioning makes the ProTrek extremely comfortable to wear but a tad too warm in the current mild weather.
Support at the ankle and arch keeps the socks firmly in place and the double comfort top, comfort toe seam and flex zone on the front of the foot provide vital protection from irritation and chafing when on the move.
Made with 42% Merino wool they control moisture well, are naturally anti-bacterial and have good heat retention properties.
They come in a range of sizes, from three to fifteen and in seven different colours so enough choice to satisfy most tastes.
HJ Hall have treated the ProTreks with 'Tri-Seal' technology which they claim aids water repellency and moisture management as well as providing stain resistance. In use water beads up when it comes into contact with the socks so the tri-seal technology provides a good first defence but is by no means a solution to soggy feet!
The ProTreks look great and have a six month unconditional guarantee - if they wear out in that time they will be replaced.
We think that this is a good introduction into the world of technical sock making from this traditional British manufacturer. All of the socks in the ProTrek range are reasonably priced when compared to their contemporaries and do the intended job well so worth a look in our book.
