If you’re looking for an alternative to fleece for your mid-layer the Vikke will be right up your street. It’s made from 100 per cent merino wool, with a lovely brushed backing so it feels great against bare skin; and of course it comes with all the advantages of merino – it stays warm when wet, it’s breathable, it dries quickly and it doesn’t retain odours.
The cut is quite generous, so depending on what you intend to wear under it you may want to drop down a size. Features are fairly minimal – two zip pockets, full-length zip with baffle, dropped hem at the rear, thumb loops, quite high collar and contrast flatlock stitching.
The Vikke also looks good and is one of those bits of outdoor kit you’ll use for years for everything from skiing and hiking to walking the dog and propping up the bar.
