Tog24 have used their patented TCZ300 fleece fabric as the main material for this mid-layer. They claim ‘warmth without weight’, an anti-pill face, and a fast drying and breathable material.
The fleece is nice and thick and certainly provides enough warmth to be considered as a winter mid-layer. The styling and cut is fashionable rather than pure outdoor which could suit those wanting a warm top for general everyday use during the winter, as well as weekend walks.
The breathability isn’t up there with the more expensive alternatives, probably due to the thickness of the fleece, so we wouldn’t recommend it for serious high-intensity walking or hiking where moisture control is key.
The Whitby is widely available online for around £25 - at that price it represents great value for money when stacked up against the competition.
Overall the Whitby has a quality feel about it and is a great budget choice for the fashion-conscious outdoors type.
