You could be forgiven for wondering what the Patagonia Performance Twill Jeans are doing on an Active Travel website, but despite the contemporary good looks, the clue is in the name.
As far as jeans go these are pretty damn good looking, with a classic 5-pocket styling and a slim, straight fit. Straddling the line between smart casual and casual depending on the colour you choose - the Mojave Khaki have a classic chino look while the Forge Grey are more casual - the styling and detailing puts these jeans firmly in the 'Sunday best' category.
Normal jeans though are usually made from a hard-wearing cotton twill fabric which has very little give and can have you overheating quickly, not to mention holding on to the sweat you generate for way too long. The Performance Twill Jeans on the other hand are made from a mix of organic cotton and polyester. This blend feels ridiculously comfortable for everyday wearing. In winter the material provides ample windproofing and is just thick enough to be warm, but it's in hot weather though that these trousers really come in to their own. The material is thin, light and airy enough to let your legs breathe and the stretch stops material getting caught up in unfortunate, usually warm and sweaty places. The T400 polyester has a wicking finish which successfully pulls moisture away from the skin as well as repelling water.
Patagonia have managed to successfully put the 'performance' in to what is a genuinely handsome pair of trousers, making these the ideal companion for your travels.
