The material used to make the Boulder is waterproof and windproof and all the features are there to keep your kids dry. The zips are water resistant, and the hood, cuffs and hem are all adjustable to seal out miserable weather, which we all know can make kids equally miserable! Talking of the hood, this offers excellent coverage with the main zip done up, successfully keeping rain off the face and head.
We love the zip in fleece which has stayed within the coat through the cold spells, making it super cosy but still retaining a decent amount of breathability to the overall jacket. It zips out in warmer weather and can be used as a standalone fleece.
The cut is fashionable for younger kids while still being practical. The hem is long so the coat gives great coverage over the bum and tops of the legs and also makes for a jacket that can be bought in a slightly too big size and worn over a couple of winters.
So far, the Boulder has been pretty bombproof, proving itself to be durable in the face of multiple playground and woodland scrapes which is a lot more than we can say for cheaper jackets from companies that don't specialise in making outdoor gear.
Kids grow out of clothes quickly, which makes it hard to invest in decent quality outdoor gear year after year, but the Boulder 3 in 1 offers an excellent fleece and waterproof to stave off the worst of the winter and separately makes perfect sense for the shoulder seasons.
