Never tried trekking tights before? They might change your life if you're not a fan of the flappy, often ill-fitting hiking trousers available for women. Slim, form-fitting and more like leggings than loose trousers, Fjallraven's Abisko tights are designed to move with you as you hike, and fit brilliantly under waterproof layers. The Abiskos aren't your ordinary trekking leggings, either - they're made from a thick and seriously comfortable stretchy fabric and have reinforced knee and rear patches to protect you when you're sitting or working on damp or rough terrain.
The Abisko trekking tights are so comfortable you really do forget you're wearing them, with a wide stretchy waistband that sits nicely on the torso. The fabric is warm enough to wear on chilly days but still wicks away sweat on fast-paced hikes. Those reinforced rear and knee patches are perfect for scrambling or for tasks around camp, and there are handy pockets on the sides of the tights that will take your phone or a map.
What really impressed us about the Abiskos is their durability. It's rare we get to review a piece of kit in the long term, but over the past few years we've been able to wear the Abisko tights over hundreds of hikes, camping trips and backcountry adventures, including spending six weeks wearing them daily in the Himalayan mountains. They still look and perform like new, which starts to make that expensive price tag make sense.
Our verdict? Fjallraven's Abisko trekking tights are excellent, durable and beautifully cut trekking tights that are worth the hefty price tag if you plan to get a lot of wear out of them.
