If you had a list of everything you would want your ideal road waterproof to be, you would pretty much come up with a sketch of the Pro SL II. Constructed of immensely waterproof and breathable (40,000g/m²/24hr), clean cut, close fit and tough yet superlight fabric it proved a huge hit with every one of our testers throughout the test period.
On the bike the well-placed stretch panels along with trim cut make the jacket hug in tight, with no flapping or draughts, yet it never feels restrictive, even during the most intense training rides. This is helped by the stretchy neoprene cuffs and well-proportioned, comfortable collar. The collar even has a contoured neoprene panel behind the neck to seal the area up from drips or draughts even further.
We would normally like to see some form of adjustment on collar, hem and cuffs, but in this case Endura has shunned them for an uncompromisingly lightweight elasticated approach. Fortunately, in this case it works very well, sealing everything up and shutting out the weather with no need for tinkering.
All this loveliness is topped off with an appealing yet understated design with equally understated dark grey reflectives that only come to life at night.
Endura were kind enough to send our sample out complete with a Pro SL Primaloft gilet, which has proven to be an ideal accompaniment for chillier winter days, and is well worth considering as an addition.
Verdict: A truly excellent jacket, enough said.
