Craghoppers are famed for lightweight, sun protective adventure travel clothing with the added bonus of Nosilife treatment to protect from insect bites in certain garments. The Nosilife Adventure II Long Sleeved Shirt delivers on all those fronts and more.
Firstly the sun protection is superb; we spent 2 days trekking near the equator without suncream, and the coverage of the shirt (and a hat and trousers) along with the UPF 40+ rating was ideal. Naturally, being fully covered in that climate means sweating profusely, but no clothing could have prevented that! It's actually a pleasant shirt to sweat into as these things go as it's very light and quick drying.
The fit is loose and therefore adds to the cooling effect, but combined with the slightly shaggy material it tends to be flappy and give a fairly saggy, unkempt look, making the Adventure II a shirt you wouldn't necessarily use for evening dining in a fancy restaurant.
The versatile collar folds out - and up - in three stages to add to the already excellent sun protection, most welcome when you're hiking in the baking midday sun. We found that the strategically placed mesh venting across the upper back helped with general warm-weather comfort and the material is properly effective at wicking away excess moisture. Anti-odour treatment also helps to stop pongs building up allowing you to wear more and wash less.
Apart from sun protection, being covered also allows you to protect your skin from insect bites, and Craghoppers are well known for their permanently baked in Nosilife anti-insect treatment which is featured in the Adventure Shirt II. This gives you an element of protection but also a certain feeling of security knowing that your clothing has it.
As you would expect, there are a number of other travel friendly features including a very practical and secure zipped RFID pocket and drying loops. Coupled with the low maintenance fabric this is a highly practical shirt for anyone on the road.
Craghoppers remain the leaders in warm weather travel clothing, and the Adventure II Shirt makes it easy to see why; a classic staple of any travellers wardrobe.
