Despite its name the Kimba Lite wasn’t one of the lightest jackets we tested at 500g, but this is largely a result of the trade-off between features and weight.

The Aquadry waterproof, windproof and breathable outer fabric has a mesh lining, which is mainly responsible for the extra weight. This also makes it a little more bulky, but having said that it will still pack into the right-hand pocket for neat and efficient storage.

From the top down you get a ‘grown on’ integral hood with effective storm visor and less effective adjustment, which means peripheral vision is not the best.

There’s a huge inner chest pocket on the left hand side which will take not one but several maps, as well as two zippered hand pockets. These zips are not waterproof but have storm flaps, but the main zip is waterproof and also has an inner storm flap and reflective piping down either side.

Cuffs and hem are both adjustable and the arms come with ergonomic elbow darts for added comfort.

It’s a shame the hood restricts your vision slightly because other than this the Kimba Lite is a decent value waterproof that at a pinch could be used year-round – making it even better value.
