Popular with triathletes top tube frame bags allow quick and easy access to food and equipment. The Topeak Fuel Tank frame bag does just this job but also has a few tricks up its sleeve.
The internal capacity of the medium we have on test is 0.5L. An inner mesh pocket allows you to separate out smaller items, the larger 0.75L version also has an internal divider for further organisation of food and gear.
The waterproof outer material and zip handily allows you to store phones, wallets, power packs and GPS devices inside without the use of a drybag.
Topeak have thoughtfully added a cable access hole to the side of the bag, we use this for charging handlebar mounted devices on the move with a mobile power pack which is stashed inside away from the elements. This is a great touch and the sort of joined up thinking that helps elevate everyday items above the norm.
The three Velcro attachments work much like other frame bag attachment systems but we weren't able to tighten the front attachment to the stem quite enough to stop the bag unceremoniously flopping to one side every now and then. This is only a very minor quibble in what is otherwise a very handy and useable frame bag.
