The Camelbak Volt is very much aimed at mountain bikers as opposed to walkers although there’s no reason at all why you can’t use it for other activities if you’re not carrying large loads (in fact we tested it whilst skiing as opposed to mountain biking).
The distinctive feature of this ten-litre capacity pack is the three-litre hydration reservoir, which sits at the bottom of the pack around your lumbar region. This gives better stability and comfort and we were most impressed with both these aspects of it.
There are also straps on the waist belt that can be used to further stabilise the pack at the same time as increasing water flow rate.
The pack itself was also very comfortable thanks to a combination of well-padded back and hip panels and shoulder straps along with a combination of lightweight materials to keep the weight down (520g without the reservoir).
Besides the main compartment there are a whole stack of zippered organisational pockets as well as a really useful helmet carry system that will take most styles of lid.
