In case you aren’t familiar – Highlander are a Scotland-based family-owned brand that’s been around since the 80s and is now run by the son of its original founder. Its original ethos was to offer affordable performance kit at reasonable prices to open up the outdoors for all and it clearly still holds that principle.
In short, the V2 is a three-season waterproof shell jacket jam packed with all the features you’ll need for the likes of Glen Nevis trail hiking, Yr Wyddfa scrambling, and much, much more. Including a three-way adjustable, helmet-compatible hood with a mouldable peak, huge hand pockets that can easily hold an OS map, an internal zipped pocket, and a sturdy two-way main zip with water resistant PU lamination; there’s a lot to like here.
This main zip additionally features a storm flap, while the pit zips are also two-way, and all of the zipper tabs throughout the jacket are glove-friendly. The jacket actually comes with a separate set of grey-coloured zipper tabs, which is a nice touch.
According to Outdoors Magic tests earlier this year for the Outdoor 100, the fabric definitely feels durable enough for longs days on the trails.
