Saas-Fee/Saastal is perhaps more familiar to the skiers amongst us, but this mountain destination has loads to offer summer visitors too. From hiking high-altitude trails, to via ferrata, bike paths, culinary surprises and even the opportunity to feed marmots, you can find all you need for a fantastic Alpine summer holiday here.

Tucked away in a picturesque side valley, Saas-Almagell (1672m above sea level) is the southernmost village in the holiday region of the Saas Valley. The village itself is nestled between towering peaks, with adventure to be found right on its doorstep.
You can follow the Roman flagstone path up to the Monte Moro pass, watched over by the Golden Madonna (gold statue of Mary), or head up to the impressive Mattmark Dam, the largest earth dam in Europe, where you’ll find a great circular route around the reservoir for both walkers and bikers.

As well as these local attractions, Saas-Almagell is also the gateway to the wider Saas Valley, where you’ll find the villages of Saas-Fee, Saas-Grund and Saas-Balen, as well as miles of unspoilt mountain wilderness. From stunning waterfalls and panoramic views, to historic chapels and charming mountain huts, Saas-Fee/Saastal is a destination you’ll never forget.
Plus, getting around the area is easy with a SaastalCard. From your first overnight stay in the region, the SaastalCard allows you to use all the cable cars (except Metro Alpin) and local buses free of charge to help you make the most of this spectacular destination.
