A mostly downhill route with just over 400m of ascending, the path starts among thick laurisilva forests and drops 1,000m down to the coastline, getting narrower as you go. Along the way you’ll see cave dwellings and deep green ravines. The start point for the walk is Cruz del Carmen - a crossroads connecting the villages of Anaga and La Laguna.
Since the path is surrounded by fields, coming across goat herds is not uncommon. Hikers will get views of very deep, green ravines before reaching the remarkable hamlet of Chinamada. Some of the cave dwellings, directly excavated in the mountain, look as if they had been swallowed by the earth. Some houses just show the façade, while the rest of the rooms are inside the rock, in a cool and quiet atmosphere.
Tip: Take your swimming costumes as when you reach the end point at Punta del Hidalgo you can enjoy a dip in the pools formed by one of the last eruptions that took place in Anaga Rural Park.
