The fun doesn't stop when night falls, with plenty of bike-themed pub nights and film evenings on offer.
Climate Ride: Bar Harbour to Boston, USA
12-16 September 2019
Take a wonderful five-day ride along America’s Atlantic coast and show that you’re serious about climate change and sustainable adventure, all in one adventurous cycle. Climate Ride has raised millions of pounds for climate organisations through sponsored rides. This ride is one of their best, passing through Acadia National Park and along Maine’s rocky coast, camping along the way.
The Rift, Iceland
27 July 2019
Do you have what it takes to ride The Rift? This ain’t no picnic – it’s an arduous ride across the inhospitable terrain of Iceland. This 125 mile off-road bike race crosses dark lava fields in the highlands and traverses the continental rift between North America and Eurasia. And the scenery might take your mind off the tough riding - the rugged course starts along the southern coast of Hvolsvöllur and passes waterfalls, black sand beaches, glaciers and volcanoes. The race finishes as the best do, with beers and live music.
Megavalanche, France
8-14 July 2019
The longest (and arguably craziest) downhill mountain bike race in the world is a real rite of passage for keen mountain bikers. Catch a ski lift to the top of the mountain above Alpe d’Huez and then race all the way from the 3,330 metre peak of the Sarenne Glacier to the bottom in a rowdy crowd of riders – the first miles are ‘pure downhill madness on snow’ as one rider described it. As well as the men’s race there are female and kid’s rides taking place.
