If you’ve ever dreamed of cycling to the other side of the world but could never consider taking the time off work, or away from family that such a big trip would require – let alone the finance – then Ride 25’s new cycling tour could be the answer.

Ride 25 allows riders to complete a round the world trip in 25 tours, completed months apart, one tour at a time. Individuals, groups, charities and companies are all invited to take part in however many stages they like, starting wherever they please, whether that be one stage through continental Europe or all 25 from the UK to Australia.

Most tours comprise 4 days cycling and between 70-100 miles in the saddle a day. Hotel accommodation is arranged by Ride25 in shared twin rooms.

Flights and transfers are down to you, but once you join a tour, all meals are supplied, including fruit and water during each day’s riding. You and the Ride25 ‘peloton’ will be shadowed by three support vehicles and half a dozen staff – including a first-aider and bike specialist should there be any mechanicals or mishaps.

How many legs you ride, and even in what order, is totally up to you, and you can take anything from 5 to 25 years to complete your ride to down under if you want. There are even three alternative UK starting legs, with the option to ride from either London, Leeds or Manchester to Paris.

Okay, so technically, this isn’t ‘a ride around the world’ because Ride 25 only takes you as far as Australia – but if you don’t fancy flying all the way back, there’s no reason why you can’t simply keep pedalling…

Tour costs vary, but Tour No 4, for example, from Milan to Rome between the 24th and 29th September 2015, which includes 4.5 days of cycling and covers 390 miles, costs £1,350. Ride25.com
