Get-off-and-push

When it comes to mountain biking, you can follow one of two (cycle) paths; either set off by yourself using your own or hired bikes, or get proper guidance from the experts

If you’re new to mountain biking, the latter option is not only safer but it means you’ll improve more quickly and so have more fun. For those looking to try biking or improve their skills, or wanting a biking-dedicated break, Tyred-Out, run by enthusiastic couple Tam and Pete Gallimore, offers one- and two-day bespoke courses as well as excellent four-star activity accommodation for families or groups of up to eight people. North Wales offers great mountain biking on the famous Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park’s 25 miles of tracks and at the new 15-mile Marin Trail in Gwydyr Forest Park, just outside Betws-y-Coed, which is considered difficult (red) and comprises a 450 metre climb and many technical sections. The Welsh National Cycle Route (Sustrans Route 8) runs from Dolgellau to Bangor.
