Tenerife is a beguiling volcanic island in the Atlantic Ocean where winter seems like spring thanks to a warm average year-round temperature of 23ºC. And with more than 1,500km of hiking trails, there’s no better way to experience the incredible landscapes and gentle hospitality of this beautiful island, than by joining the 2016 Tenerife Walking Festival.
The festival, from 29 March to 2 April offers visitors the chance to get the most out of the island through a series of 15 group hikes along 3 coastal, 6 volcanic and 6 forest routes that celebrate the diverse scenery and inspiring natural beauty of Tenerife.
The volcanic terrain of Teide National Park is like a Noah’s Ark of volcanism – a truly remarkable alien environment. And due to its curious phenomenon of ‘horizontal’ rain produced by condensation, Tenerife’s forests are especially lush and home to fascinating plants and wildlife. And, of course, the stunning coastline offers some spectacular views and sunsets.
Whether you come with a group of hikers, your family or on your own, you can enjoy daily hikes alongside a series of cultural, social and gastronomic activities.
All routes will depart from Puerto de la Cruz town centre. The Tenerife Walking Festival can also arrange a daily picnic lunch. Walkers should bring water, a small backpack, sunscreen and wear comfortable clothes.
