Ideas and advice from the tourist board...

When you come, don’t forget your wetsuit, bike and energy drinks in case you want to surf the Atlantic or ‘coasteer’ our coastline, canoe the rivers or cycle some of the world’s best mountain bike trails. In fact, ‘Mountain Bike Rider’ voted Afan Forest Park ‘one of the top ten places to ride before you die’.

You’ll also need your hiking boots, rucksack and camera as we also have the 186 mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path, Gower - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and internationally renowned Marine Nature Reserves and off shore islands where you’ll spot puffins. porpoise and seals.

This year in Carmarthenshire the Brechfa mountain bike trails really kicked in with the Gorlech and Raven trails drawing bikers from all over the world. Typically, green trails are all on forest roads or canal towpaths -but not in Brechfa forest where they’ve create a trail that engages the rider and heightens the senses giving you a true taste of off road riding. On Gower, Paddle Boarding has been a growth sport this summer. It’s the latest open water sport that has captured the spirit of south west Wales and combines the skills of surfing and kayaking.

Also new this year you can try going ‘Ape’ at Margam Country Park, near Port Talbot where you can live life more adventurously and experience 3 hours of tree top adventure - 30ft up rope ladders ... Tarzan Swing on a giant rope net then zip wire through trees ... crawl through tunnels and tackle high wire rope bridges.
