Fact 1: These geological formations are known as hoodoos, but more poetically as fairy chimneys. They typically consist of relatively soft rock topped by harder, less easily eroded stone that protects each column from the elements.
Fact 2: These are found in the central region of the country known as a bridge between Europe and Asia, and were hollowed out and used as graves during the time of the Roman empire.
