The 2016 race offers six stages in the sunny and mountain studded Kootenay Rockies in beautiful British Columbia. It features the highest percentage of singletrack of any mountain bike stage race and includes challenging climbs to spectacular views of lakes and mountains followed by some of the best descents in the world.
The event will kick off with the first two stages in the City of Fernie, renowned for its vast networks of lovingly hand-built singletrack trails.
Stages 3 and 4 take place in the neighboring communities of Cranbrook and Kimberley. Each with its own unique style, you will be treated to some diverse riding in these emerging hotspots.
The event then heads north to Golden for the final two days. Voted the favorite stages of 2014 by the riders, Golden offers unsurpassed riding, amazing views and a warm community welcome to create a fitting atmosphere for the Grand Finale of the 2016 event.
With stage distances averaging 40km and 1300m of elevation gain, most riders can expect 3 – 5 hours of saddle time in each stage, leaving enough in the tank to hang out and have a beer (or two) afterwards.
The event takes place between July 23-28, 2016.
