The Haute Savoie valley of Chamonix at the heart of the Mont Blanc Massif is now making itself a mecca for mountain biking

A new downhill mountain bike track will be open this summer in Chamonix, which starts off from the arrival area of the Prarion cabin lift at 1900m. With almost 900m of overall descent taking you back down to Les Houches, this one trail offers incredible riding variety, with trees and undergrowth to navigate, and meadows and footbridges to cross.

The Chamonix valley as a whole has 18 downhill mountain bike trails with both the Prarion gondola and the Bellevue (1794m) cable car from Les Houches taking bikes. Also included are two managed and marked tracks.

For those not looking for downhill rushes, there are waymarked circuits and special mountainbike tracks throughout the hamlets and villages of Servoz and Les Houches.

There’s even a new free-access BMX pump track in Servoz. Inspired by the tracks created in the 70s and 80s by BMX riders, the pump track is a continuous loop on which the rider can roll over a series of humps and jumps without pedaling.
