Keswick Mountain Festival has announced details of a new attraction for this year’s event.  The Berghaus Adventure Hub will be located in the Festival Village on the shore of Derwentwater.  Open from 15–17 May, the hub will be the starting point for many of the festival’s outdoor activities and will also give visitors the chance to win prizes during the weekend and meet three of the UK’s most high profile outdoor personalities - Sir Chris Bonington, Leo Houlding and Steve Birkinshaw.

From 15-17 May, the Berghaus Adventure Hub will run ‘#MyKeswickAdventure’, a competition designed to encourage visitors to share photos of their experiences during Keswick Mountain Festival.  Images uploaded to Twitter and Instagram using the #MyKeswickAdventure hashtag will be used to create a gallery with the best of them winning a range of prizes, including Berghaus kit.  Everyone who uploads an image will also be able to claim a goody bag from the hub.

Three of Berghaus’ leading sponsored athletes will make appearances at the Berghaus Adventure Hub during the festival, to meet visitors, answer questions and even pose for ‘adventure selfies’.  Steve Birkinshaw will visit the hub from 10:00am-2:00pm on Friday 15 May; Leo Houlding will be in residence from 10:00am-12:00 noon on the Saturday; and on Sunday 16 May, Sir Chris Bonington will meet festival goers from 2:00pm-4:00pm.

During the Keswick Mountain Festival, participants in many outdoor activities will meet at the Berghaus Adventure Hub.  These events include several of the guided walks that will be organised by HF Holidays, as well as some of the water-based activities such as canoeing and catamaran sailing.

Lucy Scrase, Keswick Mountain Festival director, comments:
“Over the years, we’ve heard so many stories about the great adventures that visitors have enjoyed during Keswick Mountain Festival.  The Berghaus Adventure Hub is going to give people a great opportunity to share their experiences during our event and we hope that their images and stories inspire others to try something else while in the area.

“We’re proud about how the festival has always tried to give visitors opportunities to rub shoulders with some of their outdoor heroes in a relaxed environment.  So, we’re very excited that festival goers will have the chance to meet Sir Chris Bonington, Leo Houlding and Steve Birkinshaw.  The hub is a fantastic addition to the festival and I think it’s going to be a big success.”
