The Columbia Conspiracy Outdry trail running shoes are so light it’s like wearing a couple of tiny clouds on your feet.
But despite their light weight they’re tough enough to handle a good hammering on the trail, and the Outdry fabric used in the uppers is both waterproof and breathable.
They also feature asymmetrical lacing to alleviate pressure on the top of the foot, so you can fasten them good and tight and remain comfortable (although we did find they needed a tiny bit of breaking in as the front of the uppers was initially just a little stiff).
We loved the sticky Omni-Grip soles which ensure your feet stay on the trail, and the combination of Techlite lightweight cushioned midsole, Techlite FluidFrame multidensity underfoot support and TPU shank all make for a remarkably comfy shoe whether running on trails or roads.
The pair we tested came in a very contemporary bright green and blue colourway which may not appeal to everyone, but we really liked it, and there’s protection for your bright new shoes via a useful leather toe rand.
If you want to move fast, light and comfortably on summer trails and paths – whether running or hiking – the Conspiracy is well worthy of consideration.
