Sprayway’s Allday Rainpant trousers are slightly deceiving when you first put them on – the fabric is soft, quiet and comfortable against bare skin, yet at the same time it is highly waterproof and breathable thanks to the two-layer laminate lining which is fully seam sealed, with a separate, durable, DWR finished outer fabric.
This makes the pants waterproof to 10,000mm and gives them an MVTR (moisture vapour transmission rate) of 20,000 g/m2/24hrs.
Moisture vapour can escape quickly from the inside of the pants since the airspace between the liner and outer is designed to channel trapped moisture from either inside or outside out of the garment.
Also, the reduced use of taped seams aids breathability, whilst the two-layer construction means the pants remain waterproof if the outers are damaged or wet out.
Sprayway have clearly focussed on waterproofness and breathability with the Rainpant since other features are pretty minimal – just two zipped hand pockets and a semi-elasticated waist with belt loops, so if you want loads of bells and whistles the Rainpant probably won’t appeal; if on the other hand you want to stay dry and comfortable while wearing a very basic, low maintenance style of trousers which also pack away very easily you should check them out.
