Santini rate this jersey as being for use between 5 and 15 degrees C which, to them, makes it a winter top, while to us in the UK it could pretty much mean any time of year. Made of brushed back thermo fleece it isn't windproof, but is plenty warm while breathing very well indeed. Three standard pockets sit at the base of the back, with an additional pocket at each side being easily accessible.
Our test team instantly took to the retro print and striking colour choice of our 'aqua' design, and were even more smitten when they slipped into the luxuriously soft microfleece interior. Everyone felt the wide lycra cuffs worked well, while the wide elastic hem completely did away with any hotspots that a thinner band would produce - everything has been geared for comfort here.
The two extra side pockets were also appreciated, with everyone commenting on their ease of access, although most pointed out the lack of a secure zipped pocket for valuables and keys on the move. It is always nice to know your phone or keys aren't going to be ejected when you stuff the front wheel into a pothole.
We felt it would be a bit on the warm side for 15 degrees, but certainly good up to around 10 or 12. But then we are Scottish so that would depend on your own internal thermostat. A five degree lower limit was about right for us though, but below that we still used it underneath a windproof layer so it got plenty of use throughout the autumn and winter conditions. Lastly, all our testers felt it came up neat for sizing so be aware you might need to size up slightly to keep it from cutting your circulation off.
