As with all items on review we handed these three-quarters over to our test team members with no comment on price. A clean review on performance is always better, with no expectations from a high or low price tag to cloud judgement. But there wasn't one person who didn't have to be picked up from the floor when we revealed the £220 price tag afterwards.
Pulling them on it was clear they are of a high quality however, with the brushed roubaix-type fabric extremely comfortable and form fitting, while delivering enough insulation for the spring and autumn rides these 3/4s are aimed at. Wide mesh straps held it all in place perfectly while a handy reflective panel at the base of the back could help with visibility at a pinch.
Two narrow pockets at the base of the back could be handy for a key or card if no other options were available.
We rode these shorts over pretty much every discipline; gravel, mountain and road, and on each type of riding we were extremely pleased with the performance of the pad. Short and sharp or long and slow-burn it never raised any chafing or comfort problems, and the same could be said of the rest of the body.
There is no doubt they are a terrific, well fitting and handsome pair of three-quarters, but we can't help feeling you could get very similar performance for nigh on a hundred quid cheaper.
