One thing you'll be sure to want if you're heading out and about in winter, whether you're on a hike or tearing down the pistes, is a quality baselayer that will keep you toasty while you're sat on a chairlift, and stays breathable while you're breaking a sweat on the trails.
If you're eco-conscious and would prefer to stick to natural materials where possible, Merino is a great choice, and the 200 Merino tights from UK brand, Isobaa, fit the brief perfectly.
Made from 100% superfine Merino, they feel great against the skin, offer outstanding insulation and great breathability as excess sweat is wicked away from the body. The material is also naturally odour resistant to keep you fresh all day.
As far as the fit goes, these tights are, well, tight. As to be expected from a baselayer, but if you usually find yourself straddling two size brackets, we'd recommend choosing the larger option or, ideally, try before you buy. They are a good length with no unwanted bunching at the ankles on our 5'4" frame.
These Isobaa tights also have seams that lie flat to reduce the chance of chafing, and only have one tiny label attached to the outside of the waistband to cut out unwanted irritation.
The range of colours available isn't huge, offering four options in varying shades of black, blue and grey, but if there's one bit of kit that suits the no-frills aesthetic, surely it's the baselayer.
Overall a great pair of Merino tights to see you right on the hills and beyond.
