'Meal Kit' may sound like marketing-speak for 'lunchbox' but Light My Fire have designed something that will strongly appeal to those who like everything ordered and tidy. £24 may be expensive for a mere lunchbox, but this is so much more.
The updated 2.0 version of the Meal Kit contains 8 pieces (although that does include the slightly superfluous harness which holds everything neatly together). The plate and bowl together form the box that holds everything else. Inside are two different sized boxes for storing loose and small items like uncooked rice or nuts etc., plus a chopping board/strainer, an ingeniously designed mug, and the essential, original spork. All colour-coordinated for that extra dose of uniform tidiness!
The mug is two-thirds collapsible so that it can fit in the box, and the soft lower section feels sturdy and durable. It will even stand up, despite its lack of rigidity. With a lid which you can drink through and marks for measuring out millilitres, it is as well thought out as the rest of the package. The chopping board doubles as a strainer, and the versatility of the spork is well known! The modular nature of the design means you can leave behind any items you don't need, and still have a compact feeding solution to hand.
But let's be fair - it's not just obsessives that need to keep things tidy in a pack or tent, it's everyone. And this is a very well designed way to do so.
