The Hilleberg Akto is a superbly engineered one-person tent weighing just 1.6kg. Pitching is simple and easy via one aluminium pole, and the inner and fly pitch together, a great advantage in wet and windy conditions.

Short fibreglass rods located at each end keep the walls taut and prevent your head or feet touching them, and a generously high bathtub floor means water is kept well on the outside.

A six-footer can sit up and lie down with ease and the big door opens wide enough to allow you to cook in the porch, although it does have a tendency to unroll.

Adjustable vents at either end of the tent are a nice touch and along with breathable fabric help keep condensation to a minimum, and there’s plenty of room for gear storage in the vestibule.

All in all a very fine tent for serious backpacking use.
