In the Ridley range the Liz is pushed forward as an all-day comfort road bike, aimed at the endurance rider with a little extra comfort built in to the frame to keep you in the saddle longer. So it is interesting that they also claim it is the frame used by their men (well, the men's version) for the Spring classics, and by the women's road team for all their races. Comfortable or not, this is clearly a bike that can shift when it wants to.
The frame and fork are carbon of course, as you would expect at this level, but it is of a higher grade than on the standard Liz, and consequently fractionally lighter. It gets its comfort tag from the lay of the carbon in crucial areas, placed in directions that allow a certain amount of give around, for example, the seat stay area that would otherwise transmit road buzz straight to the saddle.
Female friendly bar widths and gearing as well as components such as saddle and seatpost all make this an excellent choice for women wanting to take on big rides and even race to a high level while the excellent Shimano 105 drivetrain and braking parts are more than up to the job. At £2500 for a team race ready sportive muncher, it is a bit of a snip too.
