The Equilibrium 20 Disc is designed as a mile-munching sportive machine, happy to plug away at the miles with its compliant Reynolds 725 steel tubing taking out a deal of the road buzz without sacrificing efficiency. The tapered carbon fork gives a great point-and-shoot stiffness to the front end however, and provides a beefy enough interface to deal with added forces from the disc brakes.
It all adds up to what is a wonderfully classy and retro looking bike, a style maximised by the bold paint job Genesis have applied.
The 20 Disc sits at the top of the Equilibrium range, and is hung with the excellent Shimano 105 groupset for both drive and braking components - you really can't go wrong here - and Genesis own finishing kit - bars, stem, seatpost and saddle. A 52-36 mid-compact chainset should give enough grunt for the downs without sacrificing one or two 'winching gears' when that Scottish route you decided to tackle takes a turn for the sky. Formula hubs are laced to Genesis rims for the wheelset which is bolt through on both the front and back, maintaining a very rigid and strong interface to the frame.
The whole package weighs in at a spriteley but dependable 10.28kg, so it would make an excellent choice for those thinking of getting into the sportive scene and need a bike that could handle the miles.
