Vango's Trail 25 is remarkably good value and comes with virtually all the features you need on a day pack.
Build quality isn't as good as that of more expensive competitors, but since the Trail 25 is likely to appeal to leisure walkers rather than hard men and women of the mountains, it's unlikely to have to endure quite such serious challenges anyway.
The pack features Vango's 'AirForce Back System' -contoured channels covered with breathable AirMesh fabric which create a 'chimney' effect. The result is enhanced ventilation while active, without the addition of too much weight. You'll also find AirMesh on the lightly padded shoulder straps.
The pack remains reasonably stable on your back thanks to the combination of these straps and a fairly basic, adjustable chest and waist belt (as opposed to a harness).
Clearly this isn't as comfortable as a padded waistbelt, but the Trail 25 isn't aimed at users who will be carrying heavy loads over great distances, so this isn't a major issue.
Storage options are plentiful, with one large internal pocket with hydration sleeve, two zipped side pockets and two zipped pockets in the lid. The lid has an extendable gaiter and buckle closure for quick and easy access.
Useful extras include walking pole/ice axe attachments and a grab handle, and for anyone on a budget, looking for a basic pack for easy ambles or just getting into hillwalking you can't go far wrong with this pack.
