Some bags go through a testing procedure to bring our readers the good, bad, and ugly and some are worthy of being used every day, indefinitely. The Millican Core Roll Pack 20L is one of those backpacks that has been stuffed from day one and hoisted on to our backs every working day since.
Even when fully loaded it’s comfortable to wear, with cushy shoulder straps and a great back panel. It isn’t a technical backpack, but for travel and work it strikes an ideal balance between aesthetics and practicality.
It holds loads of stuff thanks to a simple shape and an outside pocket that’s big enough to be useful. Inside you can fit a 17” laptop in a padded sleeve and there’s a small stash pocket for money and keys. The rest of the space can be stuffed with folders, gym kit or whatever you need for your daily routine and of course the roll top lets you expand the bag when you need that bit of extra space.
All the hardware is aluminium, no plastic has been used, this looks great but is also marginally better for the environment. The thick outer material has a canvas look but is 100% recycled Polyester. There is a PFC free DWR treatment as well which makes the bag showerproof. The complete backpack is Bluesign approved, verifying the minimal environmental and workforce impact, as well as being PETA vegan certified.
Altogether the Core Roll Pack is about as sustainable a backpack as you can buy. It’s also incredibly well built, the abuse we put it through daily, and lack of wear is testament to its build quality and therefore longevity, further reducing impact on the environment.
