Swiss brand Katadyn recently released the Hiker Pro on the European market after it became the most widely sold microfilter on the U.S. outdoor market. Needless to say the combination of Swiss quality, design and function is what made it so successful.

Weighing in at 310g and with dimensions of just 7.6 x 16.5 x 6.1 cm it will easily stow away in your pack, and thanks to its large filter area it delivers an outstanding pumping performance, reliably eliminating bacteria, protozoa, cysts, algae, spores and sediments as well as reducing bad tastes and odours.

The filter is very easy to clean on trips thanks to its cleanable filter protector, which also appreciably extends the life of the 0.2 micron glass fibre filter cartridge. The active carbon filling improves the taste of water and eliminates odours, and installation and removal of the input and output hoses is quick and easy.

The ergonomic pump handle and efficient pumping action allow you to treat around 1 litre a minute in some 48 strokes, so it takes no time at all to get a brew on once you’ve set up camp, and the Hiker Pro’s cartridge will treat up to 1,150-litres of water.

If you’re backpacking or camping anywhere you may have to drink untreated water the Hiker Pro is a top-quality option – light, small and well-designed, and most importantly it guarantees safe drinking water.
