Healthy Back Bag's Big Bag is a great day hike alternative to a traditional ruck-sack. It's comfortable to wear over either shoulder, has plenty of features, looks good, and has enough space to pack a picnic, maps, phone and water-proof shell jacket.

The well-thought-out pockets include, on the inside, an insulated water bottle pocket, mesh pockets for valuables and another useful large zipped insulated pocket.

The cost of The Big Bag is about in-line with what you would expect from this product and given the versatility and nice extra features, £60 represents a fair return.

The bag is made from textured nylon giving it a nice look and feel and despite its features the Big Bag weights in at just under 600g. This material also means that it is machine washable and durable - and the quality build is certainly up to the demands of leisurely day walks.

To carry, the extra-wide non-slip padded strap makes it comfortable, and the bag is surprisingly stable considering the one-strap design.

The Big Bag's key specifications and features include; a 15L capacity, dimensions of 54 × 33 × 21 cm, a weight of 590g, 8 interior pockets, 5 exterior pockets (1 with organiser panel & small detachable pouch), an insulated pocket for hot/cold drinks, 2 Key hooks, non-slip padded shoulder strap which means it can be worn 4 ways (cross-body or on either shoulder).

At 15L it is at the shallow end of the day-pack volume range and as such, is not ideal for serious mountain treks as there is not the capacity to carry the extra gear required for changeable conditions. The Big Bag is therefore most likely to appeal to the soft adventure market and those who may be looking for a bag that can also be used for leisure activities.
