Carradice's Super C Rear Panniers are unashamedly old school panniers hand-made in Lancashire from a tough and breathable waterproof Waxed Cotton Duck material.
Carradice has been hand-making cycling luggage in Lancashire since the 1930s and has a well-established reputation and pedigree for rugged reliability among the cycle touring community.
The Super C Rear Panniers give a total of 54 litres of storage across the two bags, for an empty weight penalty of 2,236g. The pay-off for this weight is a bombproof outer materiel, a solid base and inner side, plastic shielding to protect from road debris, a huge outer rear pocket and a chunky rail and clip system - all proved to be fit for expedition use.
On the back is a fixing system with a strong aluminium rail and strong rack clips, which will fit rack tubing up to 13mm. These are certainly fit for purpose but you will need to prop your bike up so that you can use both hands to remove each Super C pannier - one for the clip and one to lift it off.
The tough waxed cotton material feels like it will last a lifetime (it comes with a lifetime guarantee to ensure it does), and the top closure is sealed up with a drawcord top covered by a deep lid to keep dust and rain out.
Extra nice details on the Super C's include LED mounting straps and 3M reflectors on the rear pockets, as well as adjustable top straps which secure extra loads, as well as double as shoulder straps, and link the pair of panniers together across the rack for extra security.
Not cheap, nor light but what you're buying into with Carradice's Super C Rear Panniers is a tried and trusted British-made expedition-quality set of rear panniers which will last a life-time of touring.
