Alf Alderson reviews the Arcteryx Covert, a stylish carry on bag that's ideal for short haul travel

Stylish, convenient and a pleasure to use

Airline travel in recent years has gone from being glamorous to one step removed from cattle transportation, and heaven forfend that you have the audacity to take luggage with you (I’ve just booked a flight with  the dubiously named French carrier Hop! which costs three-times more if you have hold baggage).

So I’m most gratified to have the Arcteryx Covert I/C/O (international carry-on) to pile my stuff into, since it will carry 50-litres of gear stylishly and better still, will fit in an overhead bin (whilst passengers fit in the floor level bin).

The award-winning Covert is made from resilient materials with silicone treatment to help prevent dirt, snow and water pick-up, and provides durable structural protection with the least weight possible.

What’s more it converts to a shoulder bag or backpack and is padded on all sides offering various carrying options depending on the weight of the contents.

The shoulder straps stow away when not in use, and there are top, bottom and side grab handles so it’s really easy to manoeuvre around.

Features include an internal security pocket, an external zippered document pocket with key clip, an internal zippered document pocket and an easy-access main compartment with a high visibility lining with funky contrast stitched bird logo.

All of which mean that for lightweight travel and short breaks the Covert is ideal.
