Getting there
Every island in the Azores has its own commercial airport, however only five - Santa Maria, São Miguel, Pico, Terceira and Faial - have flight connections to mainland Portugal.
Ponta Delgada - João Paulo II Airport (PDL) is the busiest airport in the Azores and located on the biggest island, São Miguel.
You can currently fly direct from London Stansted to Ponta Delgada on São Miguel with Ryanair, and you can fly all year round from Heathrow via Lisbon with TAP Air Portugal.
Other countries where flights to the Azores are available include Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Switzerland as well as several airports in Portugal.
The following airlines fly to the Azores: TAP Air Portugal, Azores Airlines, Tui Fly, Ryanair, Iberia, Lufthansa and Swiss.

Getting around
Between islands
Flights: You can hop between the nine islands with Azores Airlines.
Boats: Atlanticoline run ferries between various islands. During winter, these only operate between the islands of the Central Group (São Jorge, Faial and Pico) and the Western Group (Flores and Corvo).
On the islands
The best way to get around is to rent a car, but there are also taxis and regular bus services on the bigger islands.
Covid-19
Currently, all passengers from the UK arriving at airports in the Azores must have evidence of a negative Covid-19 test performed up to 72 hours before flying here. Alternatively a test can be done upon arrival which will then require passengers to self-isolate for up to 48 hours until the test result comes back.
All updated information about Covid-19 restrictions will be found at visitazores.com/en/trip-info and covid19.azores.gov
