Picture yourself on an open road winding up a mountainside, savouring the summit in that fleeting moment of suspension between the last few turns of a climb and the start of an exhilarating descent. Or flashing past trees on an adrenalin-pumping, high-speed mountain bike path through magnificent forests, every sense alert and every muscle fibre reacting to the twists and turns of the trail.

The reality of biking in the epic scenery of the Bern region is even better than you can imagine – soaring mountains, vast, gaze-filling panoramas, flower-filled meadows, beautiful lakes and thrilling experience after thrilling experience.

Blessed with some of the Alps’ most impressively iconic peaks, such as the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, this famous region is laced with more than 1,000km of mountain bike trails as well as a host of cycle routes and a highly-developed e-biking system for discerning riders. All are touched by exceptional scenery and fascinating history. There are trains and cable cars to take the strain out of many a climb, while at the end of each day specialist bike hotels cater to the cyclist’s every need.

Of course, the region is famous for its winter resorts, such as Grindelwald, Wengen, Gstaad, Adelboden, Lenk and Interlaken. But once the snows have melted and the hills are bursting into life, these ski paradises are turned into summer playgrounds for bikers.
