Situated where the Ötztaler Ache flows into the river Inn, AREA 47 derives its name from its location at latitude 47ºN. At the end of the day, there is also a rich indoor world to enjoy. The Area Dome is an event venue that can hold an audience of 6,000 while there are also facilities for conferences and workshops. Restaurants can hold up to 500 people and the Saloon Sports Bar is an ideal place for dining and cabaret evenings.
ACCOMODATION
For an overnight experience you can stay in one of the wooden Tepees or in a traditional log cabin, with B&B prices starting from 22 per person per night (sleeps up to seven. Or a night in a lodge starts at 32 per person per night sleeping up to four. For those holidaying for a week or longer, choose to stay in one of the villages in the Ötz valley, from Haiming at the entrance to the valley, to centrally located Längenfeld or Obergurgl high up in the Ötz valley. OUTDOOR AREA
The best the outdoors can offer all in one place. AREA47 is a climber's high octane playground, where you can test your balance 30m above ground on the high rope course, your physical limits on the climbing wall or race against the clock on one of the speed climbing routes. For a thrilling descent, ride 600m on the `Flying Fox' high wire ride. Safely attached to the wire, you `fly over' the camp's Water Area and enjoy a unique view of the whole AREA 47. Or why not enjoy some acrobatic action and swing across the Ötztaler Ache on the `Megaswing' liana line. Speed and adrenaline junkies will get their money's worth on the go-cart and KTM Electro Enduro tracks or on the MTB downhill trails. For an adventure deep inside the earth, experience a spectacular caving trip. Constructed as part of a huge hydroelectric project during the Second World War, the Amberg tunnel system takes you down a 100 metre deep abseil to the central cathedral cave, then a further 350m deep down a watery tunnel before emerging back to daylight.
WATER AREA
Water lovers will have a splashing time with a rafting or kayaking adventure on the Ötztaler Ache and Inn River, or try canyoning down the picturesque gorges of the Ötztal mountains. The swimming lake has a thrilling waterslide park, with six crazy water slides and chutes including the steepest in Europe. Then there is the awesome 27m jump platform from the cliff side. There is even a water ramp area for budding stuntmen to try and land their creative jump stunts down the water ramp on skis, snowboard or even on a bike. For those who prefer the safer option, can try a test flight on one of the water trampolines. And who said a country surrounded by land can't have any beach-based fun? AREA 47 features sandy beaches ad plenty of activity with beach volleyball, beach soccer pitches and a Venice Beach style gym.
