OUTDOOR AREA - Sky’s the limit
Offering the best of the outdoors you can tailor your trip to suit your interests, mixing together elements of the outdoor, climbing and water areas. Don’t miss the 27m high rope park, the Mega Swing with a jump of 30m and the high-wire Flying Fox or a ride of 350m across the camp’s water area. For the most awe-inspiring views try tandem paragliding. With a few steps down the mountain, the ground beneath you falls away and the adventure begins. Relatively slow speeds of between 25-50 kph means you have time to fully appreciate the landscape and even take some pictures (make sure your camera is well secured!).
WATER AREA - Taking the plunge
Don’t mind getting a bit wet? Then try combining your holiday with some water action, such as whitewater rafting, canoeing, kayaking or canyoning. The diversity of Tirol’s lakes, streams and rivers means that those dipping their toe into the water for the first time will be as fulfilled as those seeking rough, raging torrents.
Outdoor fans can enjoy rafting highlights on the Ötztaler Ache and Inn rivers, canyoning through the picturesque gorges of the Ötztal mountains or caving through the imposing Amberg tunnel system. The water area at Area47 consists of a giant waterslide park, a 27m-high diving tower, a 15m water ramp, which is great for tubing and where freestylers can show off their creative jump stunts, and an area for blobbing. Blobbing? This consists of a two-person team, one lying at the end of the giant air-filled rubber tube and one jumping from a height onto the other end. The result? You are launched into the air, as if someone has pressed the ejector seat button, and thrown into the water at full speed1
CLIMBING AREA - Scaling the rock face
Climbing is a natural quality we all possess, one that starts even before we learn to walk. Yet coming up against a sheer rock face can seem very daunting. It’s refreshing to learn that all types of sport climbing, bouldering and Via Ferratas, at all levels of experience, are catered for in Tirol. The climbing area at Area47 includes Austria’s highest artificial climbing structure on the Achbrücke Bridge - a giant 27m-high climbing wall with vertical challenges for all levels.
